What is screen printing?
Screen printing (or silk screening) is a time-honored printing technology that is one of the most popular ways to add to your corporate identity, advertise a business or event, or show off some of your greatest artwork. The method is used to print everything from t-shirts and sweatshirts, to pants, bags, flags, towels, etc. and is most valued for its ability to print on a wide variety of materials with flexibility. Our experienced printers use only the best materials to provide the best quality around.
How does it work?
Each color in your artwork at each location of your product requires a screen to be made. Each screen is kept on file so you are never required to pay for the same screen twice.
Your artwork is separated by color and printed in black and white on transparent film which is then mounted and burned onto a frame covered with silk screen material. The open areas in the screen allow the ink to flow through and onto the surface when pressed with a squeegee.
Our high end ink comes out smooth and clear and is made to last. The product is flash dried between each layer, then run through a larger dryer to seal the ink completely.
Halftones
Halftones are an easy and cost-effective way of making different shades of a color without needing any additional screens. Solid colors are broken up into dots varying in size dependig on the darkness of the color. The dots of ink mesh with the color of the shirt making a different shade of color. For example, white halftones on a black shirt will give the illusion of gray ink.
This printing method is ideal for one or two-color jobs to give it more depth, add shadows or add gradients. It takes flat artwork and give is new life.
